Funding and Length of Study
The CMB Next Generation Fellowships have an upper limit of US$65,000.
This is sufficient for full funding for one full year of academic
study at most world-class universities. It is not generally enough for
two years of study, however, and so many applicants have chosen to
apply to schools offering Master's degree programs which only require
one year to complete.
- Many schools in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe offer one-year Master's degree programs.
- While most schools in the United States
require two years of study for a Master's degree, a few excellent
schools offer programs which can be completed in one year, including

Approved Schools
In the CMB Next Generation Fellowships program, applicants are encouraged to apply to schools selected from a
list of approved schools. To apply to schools which are not on this list, applicants must first
request permission from the IIE Beijing office by email to: <
cmb@iiebeijing.org>.
Applicants will need to decide on their own which schools may
be a "best fit" for their needs and interests. There is a wide
variation among universities in goals, mission, degree offerings, and
fields of study. There is also a wide variation in the nature and
difficulty of the education offered at these schools.
